Dr. Reed A. Kress, Chiropractic Physician
Dr. Reed Kress' hometown is Jasper, Indiana, where he participated in football, wrestling and track. His pursuit of the chiropractic profession and love of the Boilermakers took him to Purdue University where he majored in human biology. After four years at Purdue, Kress completed 3 1/2 years of training at Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, MO. While in chiropractic school, his focus was on the sports, nutritional, and rehabilitative approaches of chiropractic. This focus enables him to evaluate and treat each patient through individualized movements employed in day-to-day activities. His goal is to provide tailor-made treatment plans while incorporating health education to quickly and naturally restore each patients health. Kress has been practicing chiropractic in Downtown Evansville, Indiana for the past five years.
Dr. Alan Bee, Chiropractic Physician
Dr. Alan Bee grew up in Parkersburg, West Virginia. He participated in a variety of sports his entire life, and played collegiate baseball for the University of Kentucky. He received a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from UK in 2001, and then went to Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, Missouri where he graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic in 2005. As a young athlete Alan learned firsthand the benefits of being a Chiropractic patient. Alan joined the Active Chiropractic team in 2005 where he primarily focuses on soft tissue and rehabilitation techniques. He is certified in ART and is currently the Treating Chiropractic Physician for the Evansville Otters baseball team. Alan and his wife, Angela, reside in Newburgh with their two sons, Luke and Brooks.
Dr. Ross Hartings, Chiropractic Physician
Dr. Ross Hartings is originally from Jasper, Indiana, where he participated in football, basketball, and baseball. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Miami University of Ohio and received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Logan College in St. Louis, Missouri. While studying at Logan College, Dr. Hartings worked with St. Louis area athletes in the Logan Rehabilitation Clinic and completed courses for a Master’s Degree in Sports Rehabilitation. Dr. Hartings is a certified ART provider and he uses soft tissue techniques along with chiropractic adjustments to provide a comprehensive health care experience. Dr. Hartings aspires to continue his care of athletes of all ages, as he is still very passionate about sports. Dr. Hartings and his wife Andrea have a three-year-old golden retriever named Haley.
Lee Barnes, MD
Dr. Barnes received her degree in Medicine from Michigan State University in 1986, and then went on to finish a four-year residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 1991 at the University of Michigan. She has been board Certified since 1993. In 2000, she became interested in offering personally supervised fitness programs and went on to become an American College of Sports Medicine Certified Exercise Specialist. She has been providing personal fitness programs since 2002. She joins our team with extensive knowledge of the human anatomy, particularly in the area of rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries, diseases and EMG. She specializes in fitness and recovery from prolonged inactivity, illness, and injury. Dr. Barnes is an ACSM Certified Exercise Specialist and is currently providing Personal Medical Fitness training for our patients. Her training and experience give her the ability to treat most conditions that impair physical activity. These include muscle, bone, joint, and nerve injuries along with limitations from heart or lung problems. She has successfully treated people with severe immobility during long hospitalization and helped them become active again. She is especially interested in helping those who have fears of increasing their activity due to age, previous injury, or other health problems. “My goal is to help as many people as possible become physically active, even if they have some limitations. We can’t all become elite athletes, but we can become physically fit. It’s never too late to start!”
Mary Magazine, Massage Therapist
A University of Evansville graduate, Mary Magazine is a certified massage therapist, an ACE certified personal trainer and a certified Yoga and Pilates instructor. Mary graduated from Body Works School of Massage.
Her studies have included applied kinesiology, hydrotherapy, energy theories, reflexology, myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, pre-natal massage, sports massage, chair massage, yoga and meditation, massage for people with cancer, spa treatments such as raindrop therapy and hot stone massage. Mary is a Reiki Master. Mary is an advanced certified massage therapist in Ashiastu Oriental Bar TherapyTM. Ashiastu therapy is a bare foot massage technique using deep compression effleurage to glide over the body. Correct application will provide deep relaxation and stimulate the lymphatic system of the body. Mary is a certified member of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals. Barbara Brown, Marketing Director
Barbara (Barbie) Brown is a seasoned professional who has a broad range of marketing experience including advertising, public relations, editing, promotions and special events. She has an extensive background in relationship development and strategic planning. For more than 15 years, she has played an active role in many charitable and civic organizations, and realizes the importance of community. Barbie holds a bachelor of Arts from Indiana University, and is responsible for developing and maintaining positive relationships within the community. Her responsibilities include health fair coordination, ergonomic and injury prevention presentations, events and promotions as well as marketing and public relations campaigns. Barbie and her husband, Doug are proud parents of their daughter Addison.
Beth Nelson, Chiropractic Assistant
Beth Nelson has nearly 20 years of professional experience including management and banking. As the clinic's Chiropractic Assistant, she is responsible for handling many of the day-to-day operations. Her experience in customer service shines through when greeting each of our patients as they walk through the door, not to mention her organization and scheduling skills. She was originally a patient of Dr. Kress' prior to becoming employed with the clinic, possessing a first-hand appreciation for the healing nature of chiropractic. Beth has is a lifelong resident of Evansville, and along with her husband, Dennis, she has two children Caitlin and Austin.
Sherry Killingsworth
Sherry and along with her husband, Andrew, transferred to Evansville from Joplin, Missouri in 2008; however she spent most of her life in Mississippi. She came to Active Chiropractic with a background in accounting and medical billing. She holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Mississippi, and received her National Certified Insurance & Coding Specialist certification from the Franklin Technology Center in Joplin, MO. Sherry enjoys hiking with her husband and loves to make jewelry!
Suzette Stackhouse
Suzie Stackhouse joined our team in 2009. She recently transferred from the island of Guam, where her husband was stationed in the U.S. Navy and just recently retired after 21 years. She has worked in the medical field for more than a dozen years and is proficient with multiple day-to-day office procedures. Suzie attended the Commonwealth of Virginia, where she majored in Medical Office Management. She and her husband, Alan, live in Princeton, IN. They have two grown sons Damian and Al. She enjoys scrapbooking, reading, camping, and just spending time with her family.
